This is Zoey’s absolute favorite song right now! Nothing warms my heart like hearing my precious little princess belt that song out….or ask for us to sing it to her over and over again at bed time!
As a Christian mama, one of my biggest fears is that somehow…somewhere along the way I will mess up…I will forget to tell her something important, that I won’t proclaim Jesus in front of her in an important situation. That she won’t hear the truth enough, or even worse that she will hear it and grow up and decide to go in a different direction!
Unfortunatley, I’m sure that I will never loose these worries, no matter how hard I work at it, how old Zoey gets, or even if I know that its not that way. I know that as long as we all lay our troubles at God’s feet and live the best life that we can for his glory that HE will NEVER let me down!
I was thinking about this blog all morning as I blogged the previous location blog (ps….i have like 8 more for that series). I really want to LIVE a life for Jesus, I want my husband to and I really want my princess to! I want her to have a beautiful fulfilled life through, with and for Christ! I want her (and everyone) to feel his unending love, his amazing awesome overpowering love!
AND…I just don’t just want to tell her about God, I don’t JUST want her to hear to stories and read the bible and go to church…I want her to see us make sacrifices to bring him glory, I want her to see us live out a God life! I want to go on mission trips, I want to give my time and money and my everything to him. I want to go on family mission trips. I want to make a difference…and I want her to make a difference!
BUT as we all know…this world can be rough. This world doesnt always make it easy to be someone who loves Jesus! THis world doesn’d make it easy to walk in his light and to shine it.
This is where I’m sure I will slip up…
I’ve been reading the book Crazy Love…and this sets my heart on fire even more…I want to make a difference….but this rough world…
and then, when I was waiting to go into preschool this morning to pick Zoey up from preschool, I stumbled across this
and when I say “stumbled” I of course mean God laid it out in front of me!
Roman 12:1 (message)
Place Your Life Before God
1-2So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
3I’m speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me, and especially as I have responsibilities in relation to you. Living then, as every one of you does, in pure grace, it’s important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.
4-6In this way we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we’re talking about is Christ’s body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn’t amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.
6-8If you preach, just preach God’s Message, nothing else; if you help, just help, don’t take over; if you teach, stick to your teaching; if you give encouraging guidance, be careful that you don’t get bossy; if you’re put in charge, don’t manipulate; if you’re called to give aid to people in distress, keep your eyes open and be quick to respond; if you work with the disadvantaged, don’t let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them. Keep a smile on your face.
9-10Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.
I AM CONVICTED GOD….make your changes in me!! Show me how to allow you to change myself.
By the way….if you are interested…I think I’m doing an ok job. My baby girl LOVES her Jesus. We talk about him all the time, she loves going to church and reading her bible. she goes to a christian preschool, she sings songs about God, and (at only 2) has chosen Jamie Grace as her favorite artist! I think things will turn out ok….but that doesnt mean I’m going to get comfortable =D
